Lady Gaga (born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) is a singer and songwriter. She embarked on her musical career in the late 1990s as part of the musical group “Little Monster”. Her professional debut with the album “The Fame” (2008) became an international success, selling over nine million copies worldwide. She has since released five more albums and performed more than 300 concerts during her career. Gaga pursued an interest in other styles as well, including pop music, post-punk and hip hop while also exploring contemporary classical music at Berklee College of Music.
Lady Gaga is one of the most notable names in pop music today. She’s a lot more than just her outrageous, flamboyant outfits and provocative music videos. So it should come as no surprise that she’s also responsible for some of the greatest songs in modern music history. We love her for her experimental approach to creating new sounds, passion for fashion, and dedication to bringing mental health awareness to the forefront of pop culture. Here are some of our favorite Lady Gaga songs!
LoveGame
The song was written by Gaga and RedOne, with production handled by the latter. “LoveGame” is a midtempo R&B song that features Gaga’s signature style of singing with breathy vocals. Lyrically, it talks about a man who is in love with his superior by doing whatever he wants without thinking twice of what she thinks.
Million Reasons
“Million Reasons” is a song recorded by American singer Lady Gaga for her fifth studio album, Joanne (2016). Initially released as a promotional single, it was released to radio stations on October 29, 2016, as the album’s second single. The track was written by Gaga, Hillary Lindsey and Mark Ronson, and produced by Ronson, Gaga and BloodPop.
Stupid Love
“Stupid Love” is a song by American recording artist Lady Gaga. It was released on February 28, 2020, as the lead single from her sixth studio album, Chromatica (2020). It was written by Gaga, BloodPop, Tchami, Max Martin, and Ely Rise. It is an “electropop” song that talks about gathering the courage to fall in love again after a heartbreak.
Poker Face
Poker Face is a synth-pop song by American singer Lady Gaga from her second studio album Born This Way. It was released as the album’s second single on August 11, 2011 by Interscope Records. The song was written by Gaga and DJ White Shadow and produced by them, while electronic figureheads Benny Benassi were enlisted to provide remixes of it.
Just Dance
As the album’s lead single, “Just Dance” was met with mixed reviews from critics. Its lyrics speak about being intoxicated at a club, however, its music has been called “avant-pop”. Some criticised the song’s composition and Gaga’s vocal performance. The song was nominated for Most Promising Music Video at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards.
Bad Romance
Gaga’s third single from The Fame Monster, “Bad Romance” is a synth-based dance song with an electro-ballad atmosphere. Gaga’s vocals are processed with Auto-Tune for the first time during its production and recording, and it was inspired by German house and techno music genres. She also wrote about her attraction towards unhealthy romantic relationships in the lyrics of this single, which reflects the paranoia she experienced on tour in her biography, A Star Is Born: Remixed.
Rain On Me
“Rain on Me” is an upbeat house, dance-pop and disco song backed by funk guitars. It features a synth-disco beat orchestrated with “stuttering hi-hats, pounding bass and bold synths”. Gaga’s voice is heavily Auto-Tuned to give the track a staccato sound and describes resilience in defiance of the hardships in life. Interscope released the track as a promotional single for Chromatica on March 12, 2020.
I Get A Kick Out Of You
Classic jazz, good times, and a smile all around. The sounds of New Orleans were a major influence on Cole Porter’s songs “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Begin the Beguine”, “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm”, and many others. But it is in the realm of popular music that you can hear his initial attempts at writing songs with jazz rhythms and jazz harmonies. Those early efforts led to the creation of “I Get a Kick Out of You,” which has since been sung by dozens of artists over the years.”
Alejandro
Alejandro is a song by American singer Lady Gaga. It was released as the third single from her third EP, The Fame Monster (2009). Alejandro was co-written and produced by Gaga and Nadir “RedOne” Khayat, who also provided dance beats. Inspired by Gaga’s fear of men, it addresses the theme of abandonment through lyrics that allude to a previous lover being unsafe.
Shallow
“Shallow” is a song performed by American singer Lady Gaga and American actor and filmmaker Bradley Cooper. The song was released as the lead single from the soundtrack to A Star Is Born, though it did not receive an official release until September 27, 2018. It was written by Gaga with Andrew Wyatt, Anthony Rossomando and Mark Ronson, and produced by numerous producers including Gaga and Benjamin Rice.
Chromatica Ball Tour By Lady Gaga
The tour was originally announced via Gaga’s social media on March 5, 2020, as a six-date-long, limited concert series for the summer of that year, in support of her sixth studio album, Chromatica (2020). The announcement was accompanied by a dual-sided graphic, one side an extreme closeup of Gaga’s face sporting the ‘Chromatica symbol’ on her cheek.
Throughout the show, Gaga wears outfits by Gareth Pugh, Alexander McQueen, Christian Lacroix, Topo Studio NY, and Vex Latex. During the piano ballad section of the concert, the singer dons a headpiece that prompted journalist descriptions such as “insect cosplay” and “a very glamorous bug”.
On June 16, Billboard reports that the tour has surpassed $80 million dollars in ticket sales. According to Arthur Fogel, the CEO of Live Nation’s Global Touring Division, the shows in London, Paris, Boston, Tokyo and Toronto were sold out with over a month left until the tour’s kickoff in July. He stated that “we didn’t want to announce [the tour’s] dates till they were officially sold out.”
