Taylor Swift started out as a country singer before becoming the mainstream. With 10 studio albums by 33, the singer/songwriter has had an extraordinary career and is currently the focus of two university courses!

1. Taylor Swift’s Early Life

Taylor Swift, whose full name is Taylor Alison Swift, was born on December 13, 1989 in West Reading, Pennsylvania. She is a singer and songwriter. Her father, Scott Swift, is a stockbroker; her mother, Andrea Swift, is a housewife who once worked as a fund marketing executive; and her brother, Austin Swift, is an actor. All three of her family members have careers in the entertainment industry. Swift’s formative years were spent with her parents on a farm that specialized in growing Christmas trees.


Swift began her training in singing and acting in New York City when she was nine years old. She subsequently made the decision to pivot her career toward country music after being influenced by Shania Twain and Faith Hill.


A computer repairman by the name of Ronnie Cremer taught the young singer how to play the guitar when she was approximately 12 years old. He also assisted her with her initial attempts as a songwriter, which led to the composition of “Lucky You,” which was Taylor’s very first song.

2002: Taylor Swift performs the National Anthem

At a 2002 Philadelphia 76ers basketball game, a young Taylor Swift performed the National Anthem of the United States of America. It was obvious from an early stage that she was going to have a successful career.

2004: Taylor Swift signed her first record deal and released her first single and album

In 2004, when she was just 14 years old, Taylor became the youngest artist ever to sign a record deal with Sony/ATV. This made her the company’s first ever signing.

By the time she was 16, Taylor had already established herself as a prominent figure in the country music industry. After the release of her self-titled first album, she issued her first single, named “Tim McGraw.” The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) later awarded the album platinum certification for musical excellence.

On October 24, 2006, her record was made available for purchase by Big Machine Records. While the singer was still in high school, she composed some of her most successful songs, including “Teardrops On My Guitar,” “Should’ve Said No,” and “Picture To Burn.” She did this while managing her growing music career with her academic responsibilities.

With the release of ‘Our Song,’ the singer-songwriter accomplished the remarkable feat of being the youngest person in the annals of history to independently compose and perform a song that topped the Hot Country Songs chart. “Teardrops on My Guitar” also did very well economically, remaining in the Billboard chart for a total of 48 weeks and becoming Taylor Swift’s first top 20 hit in the United States.

2008: Taylor Swift’s ‘Fearless’ album

In 2008, the incredibly gifted Taylor released her second studio album, titled “Fearless.” It set a record for the most consecutive weeks a female country singer has been atop the Billboard charts. In the United States, the album charted at the top for eleven weeks in a row.

The first song released from this album, titled “Love Story,” spent a total of 36 weeks on the Billboard list. It solidified Taylor Swift’s place in the pop landscape and made “Falling in Love” a fan favorite thanks to its classic music video, which retold a fairytale love story. The song ‘Love Story’ was honored with a variety of accolades, including Song of the Year at the BMI Country Awards.

2010: Taylor Swift wins her first Grammy Award

During the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, Taylor was presented with her first Grammy, which was a well-deserved honor. Because of her performance of “White Horse,” she took up the award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

On that same day, she also took home two additional Grammys for Best Country Song and Best Country Album for her album titled “Fearless,” as well as the most prestigious Grammy honor of all: Album of the Year.

Taylor’s acceptance speech for her Grammy prize included the following: “This is my first Grammy, you guys! I’m not kidding—this right here is a Grammy award! 2013: Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ tour begins

After releasing album ‘Speak Now’ and ‘Red’, Taylor began her world tour in 2013.

The singer-songwriter began her world tour in support of her ‘Red’ album. During this tour, she made history by becoming the first female artist in the annals of music to completely sell out the Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia, which initially opened its doors to the public in 1988 and has a capacity of 40,900.

In addition, at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, her song “I Knew You Were Trouble,” which is widely believed to be about her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, was awarded the trophy for “Best Female Video.”
